Snookered Again???

So the much anticipated SC version 3.23.0 released and had become one of the most anticipated releases in the 14 years of Star Citizen’s existence. It was to bring new game play, Maps, better Inventory Management, Persistence Hangers, Persistence Storage, real cargo missions, better character creations and whole bunch of ships. So what the hell happened???? Did it just come up short just enough to disappoint the masses? Did it make sense to wipe the wallets of all the citizens and not put anything in that makes it possible to work along with the new economy measuring stick?

They promised that they would have all those things in the patch known as 3.23, but here is my problem. The community is tired of waiting and I get it, since they fund this whole venture. The other side is that the quality of the vision from Chris Roberts and his team as been strictly first class. They listen to the community more than any other game studio that I know. This and the never done before pioneer attitude is what makes this game so unique. The game engine was announced as being completed after being built from the ground up and the side project (Squadron 42) was in its in final polishing phase to be released at later date still not known and would bring over the tech/assets that were needed to get certain elements into into the live version of this massive MMO game. But that was October wasn’t it? Now it is nearing the end of May, and here we are again another play on words. They promised a ,lot for the release features this year 2954 for Star Citizen Fans and 2024 for everyone else. V.3.23 was to be the end of the 3. patches before we finally saw Server Meshing which would take us into the Pyro system and into 4.0 now many years late to the party.

While some things happened (reference used very loosely) and it was probably very difficult to get into the one patch, which from historical purposes, was the biggest one to date. So should we satisfied with what was released? I ask that you read further on before just arriving at an answer. They managed to get the new Star Map into the game and it nothing short of gorgeous and reduces learning curve for newer players, so that is a plus. The inventory management made it in, but barely as it appears they sort of stopped with the idea. It is clunky as the old system still exist and causes us to try readjust at how we navigate around that system. But I think with the Inventory panels always showing in game as “Under Maintenance” they had to leave this in. But now that brings up the missing hangers that were also suppose to support this venture, and since that is not in the game we don’t have it. We also did not see any new ships enter the game as of yet, so I don;t know what we are waiting on there. We did get a crap load of ground vehicles, but come on this star citizen, not street citizen. We didn’t Cargo missions and no persistence hangers for us to store things. This is important as the economy team finally showed up to the party and wiped our cash reserves out at the launch of the new patch. Problem was they don’t allow us to create a supply demand game play, but rather they just started the “grind” again to figure out how to make millions. The newly added distribution centers are being used for mercenary missions or investigation missions, no cargo game play, so that was a let down.

Now one might argue and say that the CIG did promise all these things in the 3.23 patch, but they didn’t say what minor version of 3.23 it would be and now conclude that 3.23.x was and could be implicated. The “x” my friend is more of fix type version. I am going to argue that when it finally makes it way in you really have 3.24, but now the entire version of the game is changed. This how big that was to the community. I know it was a lot of hard work and late nights to get what is out right now, but not releasing some form of the hangers or storage was a huge let down. My pledge level says its okay for the disappointment and now my outspoken words. But I feel like its an insult to our intelligence where we take the stand that we never said 3.23. Well you never said there was going to be a 3.23.x either at time of the announcement. Again, when you finally get it in the game, this is going to be considered a major update and your version should look like this 3.24. Ask anyone in the programming world what the “x” indicates. But it is there game and they call it what they want, just didn’t realize that a simple conversation of what was to come, required the transcript to be reviewed by lawyers all the time.

URSA Rover Medivac

Just a rehashed ground vehicle to appeal to the the lack of ships not making their way in?

At a certain point it is not entirely their fault because they get us year after year and eventually we have to take responsibility for it. I just feel like we got snookered again and it may be awhile before we see the content we should have seen May end up in June/July. So take this advice “When it’s in, it’s in”. Now whats starting to bother me is that we keep having ship sales for concepts that show they are done and ready to go, but they never seem to get into the game. Look at this for example, we have not had had a new ship in about six (6) months. We are currently getting a rehashing of ground vehicles that really don’t have any game play just yet, but counts to the vehicle release for the year…

So what are your thoughts on this current release and right now is your chance to place position of when you actually think we will see this release. Let us know. Well that is it for this month and I hope to see everyone online soon. o7’s
